Introduction to WSPTA Fundraising
The Washington State Patrol Troopers Association would like to thank you for your interest in our organization. We are proud to announce that starting with our 2009 fund drive and continuing into 2010; we are partnering with all Washington-based providers of goods and services associated with our fund raising efforts. This keeps your donation dollars in the state, further strengthening our communities. We also no longer use any commercial telemarketing companies or consultants in our fund drives. All calling is conducted by a WA-based nonprofit organization. Instead of a commission or percentage of your donations, this organization is paid a flat fee for their time and uses the money earned to support their mission to enhance career opportunities for people with disabilities.
We would also like to make you aware that several other organizations may be soliciting your home or business for donations. Do not be confused about the source of these solicitations from organizations with similar names. The WSPTA is not affiliated with the American Association of State Troopers, National Troopers Coalition or any other organization claiming to represent State Troopers.
Our organization, formed in 1980, represents all troopers and sergeants within the Washington State Patrol. We currently have over 1,000 members. No other group can legitimately make these claims. Some may claim to represent "Washington Members", but they are not endorsed by or associated with the Washington State Patrol or the WSPTA. Anyone calling on our behalf will identify the full organizational name; "Washington State Patrol Troopers Association" in their introduction, as well as telling you who they are, and where they are calling from.
Our fundraising programs do not require individuals to buy any products. It is important to note, however, that those giving a donation will receive an official decal identifying them as a supporter. This decal will also have full organizational name; "Washington State Patrol Troopers Association" and logo. If you receive a kit in the mail with a decal that does not have our logo, it is not from the WSPTA. At no time will an individual come by your home or business to pick up your donation.
If you receive a residential solicitation and agree to make a contribution, you will receive a pledge kit that includes a letter signed by the President of the WSPTA, a WSPTA Supporter decal, and a pre-addressed envelope to return the pledge in. Our residential solicitations are conducted through the United States Postal Service.
Business solicitations are made to business owners throughout the state for advertisement in The Washington Trooper Magazine, the official publication of the WSPTA. When a business agrees to buy magazine advertisement space, a business supporter package is sent out. This package contains an invoice and various literatures about the WSPTA, Supporter decals and a return envelope to be mailed in along with the ad copy and payment.
To Make a Pledge
In an effort to make supporting the WSPTA as convenient and easy as possible, we will be providing a number of options for our donors.
2010 Fund Drive
We conduct fund-drives where representatives call and email Washington residents and provide the multiple donation options. These representatives will immediately identify themselves, the full name of the Association, and the purpose of the call. The service provider assisting us is a mission-based nonprofit organization that provides services for people with disabilities, NOT a commercial fundraising or telemarketing company. Calls are made from a secure facility, and donations made by credit card by phone or online go direct into a WSPTA account.
